Inspired by ’60s Thai funk, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool, the Texan three-piece Khruangbinhave summoned forth a sound quite unlike anything on the musical landscape: a hypnotic mix of funk, soul and psychedelic rock that also embraces Latin Pop, jazz, Iranian music, dub reggae and touches of West African rhythm. It’s a sound that’s taken them around the world to sellout audiences and garnered critical acclaim, landing in Australia in 2022 for their thrilling Sydney Opera House debut.
