Bushfires and floods, Black Deaths, the pandemic and war. To live with endless bad news, we adapt - and get used to tragedy. Faced with mounting disasters (most of our own creation), part of us learns to turn away, or absorb the death toll as a kind of normal. We teach ourselves to stop caring. But what is the cost of this emotional survival? As we "return to normal" alongside Covid, what ongoing risks to the vulnerable have we silently accepted? How do we live with Black Deaths in Custody? With escalating domestic violence?

Bri Lee leads a discussion with Danielle Celermajer and Astrid Edwards and talks about the cost to our humanity of this fatal adaptation. Join them for this urgent conversation about how we maintain our humanity while we adapt to this new world.
