Hailed as the ‘Godfather of Punk’, The Stooges’ former frontman Iggy Pop made make his long-awaited Sydney Opera House debut in 2019 in the Concert Hall, performing his genre-defining back-catalogue of hits, including songs from seminal albums Lust For Life, The Idiot, The Stooges’ albums as well as more recent works.
A true living legend, Iggy Pop is one of the most dynamic stage performers in the world and is even credited with popularising the stage dive. As the New York Times wrote in 2016, he is “the proto-punk rebel who spawned a lineage that includes the Sex Pistols, The Ramones and those who came after.”
His impressive legacy spans almost five decades, encompassing a six year stint as The Stooges’ lead singer as well as numerous solo projects and collaborations including two albums produced by David Bowie in Berlin and work with numerous Sydney Opera House alumni such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Goran Bregović, Oneohtrix Point Never and New Order.
