Go behind the scenes on a special project, which sees musicians from London Symphony Orchestra working with Sydney and Regional NSW Youth Orchestras on a unique performance.
The LSO returned to the Sydney Opera House in May 2023 and, alongside their three monumental performances, they worked with a special project youth orchestra to prepare and perform an exciting program.
Players from the NSW Regional Youth Orchestra (RYO) and Sydney Youth Orchestras joined this unique Sydney Opera House project, which enabled children from the city and the country to come together, forge relationships, and to learn from some of the finest musicians in the world, including LSO Music Director, Sir Simon Rattle.
The project which involved instrumental tutorials and sectionals at Sydney Opera House, and a combination of tutti rehearsals at SOH and at Haymarket Creative, culminating in a showcase performance in the Concert Hall on May 3rd 2023.
The performance was conducted by Sydney based conductor Liz Scott, conductor of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Choir, and Associate Music Director of Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. The program featured compositions that celebrated the rich history of British repertoire and some orchestral favourites for stage and film.
