Finding Our Voice is a national portrait in sound of Australia’s most exciting composers, working in wildly diverse ways.
The project commissioned eight Australian artists to create an ambitious new musical composition, and presented each of the works live in an iconic Australian venue - filmed for presentation online.
William Barton’s Connection is one of two works that was presented at Sydney Opera House, staged as part of our UnWrapped series, and sees Barton collaborating with exceptional colleagues Simon Barker and Scott Tinkler, alongside other new works featuring Veronique Serret and Chloe Kim.
Artistic director and executive producer of Finding Our Voice, Genevieve Lacey, says: “William Barton is central to any celebration of Australian music. He’s been a pioneer for decades, sharing his instrument, voice, and his generous, beautiful musicianship far and wide. Deeply expressive, Barton’s compositions and performances come from long relationships with land, family, and culture.”
