Singer, songwriter, actor, playwright and storyteller Ursula Yovich returns to her first love, singing, in this exciting performance for the 2020 Sydney Opera House 'From Our House to Yours' season. Created in response to COVID-19 lockdowns and the temporary closure of the building, the award-winning season featured performances and talks live-streamed from the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage. Joined on stage for this unique performance by a four-piece band, Ursula brings a touch of soul with powerful ballads, Latin funk and jazz.
Over the past 20 years Ursula has worked as an actor, singer and writer in theatre, television and film (Top End Wedding, Mystery Road, Australia, Jindabyne, Redfern Now). In 2019, Yovich claimed four Helpmann Awards as co-playwright for Barbara and The Camp Dogs including Best Musical and Best Original Score, as well as Yovich winning Best Female Actor in a Musical. Ursula also wrote and starred in her own one-woman cabaret, Magpie Blues, and wrote the powerful piece The Man with the Iron Neck which toured Australia in 2019. She also toured with the dynamic Barefoot Divas whose six singers represent the indigenous cultures of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. (Stream Premiere)
