Red Bull Symphonic first joined two differing worlds of music in Australia in June 2022, debuting a one night only, intimate performance with Goodna rapper Lisi and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
For this performance at the Sydney Opera House, Genesis Owusu teamed up with acclaimed arranger Alex Turley and conductor Nicholas Buc, as the exemplary 40-piece orchestra reimagined his hard-hitting raps for a memorable worlds collide moment.
Genesis Owusu says of Red Bull Symphonic “If you’ve seen me perform live, you know I love the drama. Bringing out the grandeur in every element. What’s grander and more theatrical than a punk-funk-rap enigma backed by a 40-piece orchestra? We getting real thespian out here.”
The concept of Red Bull Symphonic is based on the unprecedented collaboration between a contemporary artist and a classical music director, together with a full-scale symphonic orchestra. The repertoire from the contemporary artist gets a symphonic rearrangement and the collaboration comes to life in a spectacular one-night-only performance, held at a unique venue.
