Liminal is a bold contemporary music film series featuring eight Australian artists as they create unique live performances for the screen.
More than a decade since her last appearance performing Walking On Air with Aerialize, multi-talented singer, songwriter and musician Liz Martin is making her return to the Sydney Opera House, bringing her unique sound to the Joan Sutherland Theatre’s dramatic 360-degree stage as part of our all-new music film series, Liminal.
A captivating musical talent, Liz Martin began playing gorgeous understated, atmospheric songs in the ’90s, before an encounter with club culture brought her together with Paul Mac, with whom she collaborated on the gold-selling 3000 Feet High (2001). Martin’s first solo record, Beneath the Stars (2006), leaned into her distinctive voice; the haunting, spacious Night Music (2007) and the wildly eclectic Dance A Little (2011) followed; and in 2019 she released the swaggeringly rhythmic album Led Me Down, with the newly formed Liz Martin Band.
“Wildly eclectic... quirky, playful hipness coupled with emotional openness... an ever-changing, surprising ride" – Paul Mac
Presented by Sydney Opera House in association with Subversus.
