Yeena Kirkbright, Aveesha Ash, Winnie Dunn and Randa Abdel-Fatta
All About Women has partnered with Western Sydney-based literacy movement Sweatshop on an emerging writers mentorship program for women and non-binary First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse writers. For the first time, they will also read their work live on-stage in dialogue with mentors Winnie Dunn and Randa Abdel-Fattah.
As the recipients of the All About Women of Colour Mentorship program, Yeena Kirkbright and Ayeesha Ash will debut their new work live at this event.
The finished works are inspired by the All About Women festival themes of: allyship, friendship, and our collective responsibility to our loved ones, our neighbours, our communities.
All About Women hosts a new cohort of emerging writer mentees. Two writers will work on a short piece inspired by the themes of this year’s All About Women festival, under the guidance of Sweatshop judges/mentors Winnie Dunn and Randa Abdel-Fattah. Finished works will be published on Sydney Opera House’s website and amplified across our social media channels.
The program is open to emerging writers from First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have some record of publication but have not yet published a full-length work. For the first time, they will also read their creative writing pieces live on-stage in dialogue with Winnie and Randa. This will be an exciting event to get to know the next generation of literary talent!
