Isabel Allende: The Soul of a Woman - All About Women 2021
A personal journey with one of our greatest writers.
With Isabel Allende.
Presented at All About Women, 7 March 2021, 3:30pm AEST
Join Isabel Allende, prolific writer and lifelong feminist, as she maps the movement across continents, cultures, and centuries. What incredible things have we achieved, and what must we keep fighting for?
As a writer, Isabel Allende's books centre female experience in all its joy and hardship. And at 78, the legendary Chilean has seen first-hand what feminism has accomplished in her lifetime. As a child, she watched her single mother navigate prejudice while providing for three small children. As a young woman coming of age in the late 1960s, she rode the second wave of feminism. And over the course of three marriages, she saw the ongoing injustices endured by women, the rampant double standards in relationships, and the rewards of embracing one's sexuality. Join this writer at the peak of her powers, as she shares personal insights about the feminist movement as it has changed and evolved, and considers how much further we all still have to go.
