Opera Australia: La Bohème - Sydney Opera House (2011)
1h 57m
Recorded live at Sydney Opera House, 2011.
Sung in Italian with English Subtitles
Since its premiere in 2011, Gale Edwards’ sparkling production of La Bohème has become one of our most popular productions ever. Set in Berlin in the early 1930s, the production sizzles with the creative energy, glamour and excess of the Weimar Republic.
This film captures the first season of this evergreen staging at the Sydney Opera House, with Ji-Min Park and Takesa Meshé Kizart as the original bohemian lovers, Rodolfo and Mimì. Under conductor Shao-Chia Lü, their dramatic and vocal chemistry shines through. They’re joined by Taryn Fiebig as the seductive Musetta and José Carbó as Marcello.
