Trailer: UK/AU Digital Season January
15s
Our UK/AU Digital Season continues from January 3 with more innovative performance works to challenge and inspire. Notions of cultural identity come into question in as british as watermelon, as young queer artist mandla rae presents an unflinching, avant-garde autofiction of her life; and music, choreography and spoken word become the rallying cries of the dispossessed in R.E.B.E.L., a thrilling new dance film from British hip-hop company Boy Blue.. Cutting-edge theatre company Mind the Gap presents A Little Space, an exploration of personal escape devised and performed by five artists with learning disabilities, while Where I Go (When I Can’t Be Where I Am) is a bracing, intimate look at the isolation of living with a rare, synesthetic chronic pain condition. Plus: Tchaikovsky makes a splash in the funny and delightful Swan Lake Bath Ballet, as a group of 27 elite ballet dancers perform a modern-day Swan Lake in – you guessed it – their home bathtubs. Perfect inspiration for backyard synchronised swimmers this summer. Watch from January 3.
