29/50: What is The City But The People? - Livestream (2023)
50/50: 50 films celebrating 50 iconic years •
Available worldwide from 1st Oct 2023 until 1st Oct 2028.
Backed by live music and photographic and literary work created by local artists, What Is the City but the People? invites Sydneysiders who make up the fabric of our city to parade down a large scale catwalk on the Forecourt of Sydney Opera House.
From an idea by Jeremy Deller and directed by Richard Gregory, the live event is one of the opening events of the Sydney Opera House 50th Birthday Festival and is designed to showcase the incredible diversity of local people and communities based on the theme of connection and care. Inspired by the shared experience of emerging from the pandemic, this event is a moment of celebration and acknowledgement. It is designed to be inclusive – for everyone to see and recognise something of themselves in the stories of those on the catwalk. (Premiere)
