Our narratives are informed by the maps laid upon and beneath our skin. ‘all a homeland’ invites the audience on a poetic journey of place and self, an excavation of the identities in our built worlds and the ways in which we build ourselves against them. Against a vivid blue background sand, flame and flower create a landscape of beauty and destruction, a set against which the poets words can rebound. With poetry and filming by Wiradjuri artist Jazz Money and musical score by Wiradjuri musician Zeppelin Hamilton, ‘all a homeland’ inverts the gaze of performance and ceremony. The film is a meditation on identity and responsibly, a reminder to honour the Country beneath our feet, the ancestors that lead us here, and a reminder to burn down all that does not serve.
