After making her Australian debut with a euphoric, sold-out show in the Studio in 2018, Korean-American dance-pop icon Yaeji returned to the Opera House in 2023 for her very first Vivid LIVE appearance with an immersive multimedia live show filled with choreographed moments. A true global icon of 21st-century club pop, the artist, producer and DJ brought fans together in the Joan Sutherland Theatre with her bilingual blend of house, sophisticated grooves and left-field beats, showcasing her debut album, 'With A Hammer'.
Born in New York and raised in Seoul, Yaeji started out her career as a graphic designer, before her involvement as a DJ in New York City’s underground dance scene produced her first single “New York 93” , and her self-titled debut EP. But it was her follow-up, EP2, and its breakout club smashes – the throbbing, irresistible “Raingurl” and “Drink I’m Sippin’ On” – that launched Yaeji into a realm all her own, delivering a singular, hybrid sound that fused techno, Korean indie pop, hip-hop and leftfield bass. In 2022, Pitchfork named her one of the “25 Artists Shaping the Future of Music”. (Premiere)
